HELICOBACTER PLYORI NATURAL TREATMENT – DOES BCP HELP?
If you have been part of the Canna Oils tribe for a while now, you will know that we get asked if our products will help with just about every ailment under the sun. And a few weeks ago, was no exception. Have you ever heard of a bacterial infection called Helcoibacter Plyori? I had, but I didn’t know if our Beta Caryophyllene oil would be of benefit or not. So as always, I went on the hunt for some research to find out!
What are the symptoms and causes of Helicobacter Pylori?
The Mayo Clinic says this common stomach infection is caused by a germ called Helicobacter Pylori also known as H. Pylori. (By Mayo Clinic Staff).
According to Health Direct (2024), this bacteria lives in the lining of the stomach and may cause symptoms like:
- a burning feeling in your upper stomach area (like heartburn) — which may change with eating
- indigestion or full feeling before you have finished eating
- nausea and vomiting
- bloating and burping
- loss of appetite
This Australia government website also gives us some Key Facts:
- H. pylori can cause stomach inflammation (gastritis) and more serious conditions such as stomach ulcers and stomach cancer.
- Many Australians carry the bacteria without it causing any symptoms.
- Treating H. pylori infection heals most peptic ulcers and reduces the risk of stomach cancer.
Sounds like a nasty bug you don’t want hanging around!!
Natural Treatments of Helicobacter Pylori – is BCP one of them?
So a quick google search for natural treatments took me to a study that looked at plant extracts such as cranberry, ginger, garlic and currcumin. But what got my attention in this particular study was that they stated that these “foods” can be effective in preventing and/or reducing H. Pylori infection due the their potent ANTI-INFLAMMATORY activity. (Shmuely H, Domniz N, Yahav J, 2016). Can you see where I’m going with this? Yes, BCP is known for it’s great anti-inflammatory properties. Could our Ultra products actually be helpful? I had to know more…..so I researched BCP specifically as a treatment for H. Pylori. Was there any such studies done – well, to my surprise YES!!!
Will BCP eradicate Helicobacter Pylori?
Good question! I actually found 6 studies – way more than I thought I would. So even in the science world there must be something about BCP that got some scientists thinking the same as us – haha.
I’ve taken some of their findings and listed them below:
Beta Caryophyllene (BCP) inhibits H. Pylori growth by downregulating replication machinery. (Simply put BCP helps slow down the growth of H. pylori by interfering with the bacteria’s ability to copy itself). (International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019)
BCP could be used as a new antimicrobial agent or functional health food to help patients with gastroduodenal diseases caused by H. pylori. (International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019)
BCP significantly improved symptoms of nausea and epigastric pain. (Korean Journal of Gastroenterology)
Significantly reduced inflammation in the gastric mucosa, making it a promising therapeutic agent for treating H. pylori infection. (Nutrients, 2020)
And finally my personal favourite:
BCP demonstrated selective antibacterial activity against S. aureus and pronounced antifungal activity. The compound exhibited strong antioxidant effects and selective anti-proliferative effects against colorectal cancer cells. BCP induced apoptosis and inhibited clonogenicity, migration, invasion, and spheroid formation in colon cancer cells, showing potential as a chemotherapeutic agent. (Molecules, 2015)
Conclusion:
I am just amazed at what research is out there regarding our beloved BCP, and this topic didn’t disappoint. I really hope that you found it interesting and can see that incorporating Canna Oils products into your daily wellness routine would be well worth the effort across many fronts including anti-inflammation, antibacterial and as an antioxidant.
