Different People, Different Results
Why do some people get amazing results from BCP Oil, and others… well, not so much?
Hi again from the Canna Oils team.
This week I want to dig into something a few of you have asked me about at the markets: why do most people get such great results with our Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP) — fast results, better comfort, sleeping like a baby — while a few others only notice a little difference, or nothing much at all?
Here’s what we’ve learned over the years (and what the research backs up) that might help explain it.
1. BCP isn’t a miracle product — everyone’s body is genuinely different
Just like a fingerprint, every person has a uniquely configured endocannabinoid system (ECS). It’s one of the largest signalling networks in the human body, made up of receptors scattered right through the central and peripheral nervous systems, and it helps your body maintain balance as things around you change.
Everyone’s ECS is a little different in how it’s built and how well it’s functioning. Just like any other body system, some people naturally have more or fewer receptors, or those receptors respond differently. There can also be real differences in how much of the body’s own natural endocannabinoids someone produces, and how quickly those are broken down again.
What the research says: Scientists have identified a common genetic variation (in a gene called FAAH) that changes how quickly the body breaks down its own natural endocannabinoids. People carrying this variant tend to run with naturally higher levels of their own endocannabinoid activity — and a 2025 study measuring pain sensitivity found this baseline endocannabinoid activity genuinely differs from person to person and is linked to how sensitive people are to pain in the first place.
In plain English: some people’s own internal system is already doing more of the work before they ever take a supplement — which may be part of why the same product can feel like a light touch for one person and a big shift for another.
In short, BCP works as a signal — it’s your own body that does the work of bringing itself back into balance. Some bodies simply have more room to notice that signal than others.
2. It can take time to work
Some people notice a difference from the very first dose. But like most nutritional supplements, BCP can take several weeks — sometimes a month or two — of consistent use before you feel the full effect. If nothing feels different in week one, keep going. Those receptors just need a bit more consistent, loving attention.
It’s worth setting realistic expectations from the start — this takes time, patience and a bit of awareness of how your body is responding.
3. Your serving size might not be right for you
The recommended serving size for our BCP Ultra is 2–10 drops morning and night, and for the Ultra Blend it’s 4–20 drops morning and night (since the Blend is 50% BCP). We always suggest starting in the middle of that range and building up if needed.
Don’t forget you can also apply your BCP oil (or the Bodease Balm) topically for extra comfort support while your body builds up its response internally — many customers find this a helpful way to support themselves in the short term as they build toward their full serving size.
4. Not holding it under the tongue for long enough
Believe it or not, how long you hold your BCP under the tongue before swallowing can make a real difference to your results. The longer you hold it, the more is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, rather than having to travel all the way through your digestive system first.
We’ve had plenty of customers tell us that once they started holding for a full 60 seconds (or longer), they noticed a real improvement. Here’s a quick video on how to get the most out of every drop:
5. Other lifestyle factors can be involved
BCP is a supplement — it’s designed to support and build on top of an already healthy diet and lifestyle, not replace one. If you’re not seeing what you expected, it might be worth looking at the other factors in your life — sleep, stress, movement, nutrition — and adding BCP into that bigger picture rather than expecting it to do all the work alone. A holistic approach always serves you better.
6. Not every product on the market is made the same way
One of the biggest reasons a BCP product might not work well for someone is simply that it wasn’t sourced or made properly in the first place. Quality varies a lot between suppliers.
That’s why we want to reassure you — Canna Oils sources our BCP from a reputable supplier, it’s extracted using steam and tested to confirm it’s free from heavy metals, solvents and pesticides, and is GMO-free. When you buy from Canna Oils, you’re getting a pure, high-quality product, every time.
So if you haven’t seen the results you were hoping for, don’t give up just yet. Be consistent — morning and night, every day. Increase your serving size gradually if needed. Hold for a full 60 seconds before swallowing. Use it topically alongside your internal serving size if that helps. And look at your health holistically, not in isolation.
