Memory is so important, but as we age, many feel that their memory is just not the same. So, I wanted to tell you about a study that I found it in the Journal of Food & Nutritional Sciences – hopefully you will find it very interesting – I did!
They started off with a bit of background – Neuroinflammation is known to play a neuropathological role in cognitive decline. Beta-caryophyllene (BCP), found in many plants, is a substance that crosses the blood-brain barrier and acts on the microglial cells to reduce neuro-inflammation. The purpose of this prospective, randomized study is to determine the effect of BCP on cognitive function in older individuals, who have noticed worsening of memory.
So they performed an 8 week study with 52 participants and randomised two different serving sizes of BCP with no other dietary or lifestyle changes imposed. At week 4 and week 8 cognitive function was measured by using four brain games taken online and quality of life was measured. The average age was 67 plus or minus 5 years.
The percentage changes for all scores were small at only around 2-5% increases, expect for those taking the higher serving of BCP, they had an increase of 7% for Spatial Planning and 10% for Double Trouble.
The percentage of participants who improved in all tests over 8 weeks was between 40% and 73%.
Similar improvements were observed between those taking both the higher and lower serving of BCP.
Interesting, over 8 weeks, the biggest improvements were observed for the combined summed means of all four tests for those with baseline mean scores at or below 100.
Of the ten quality of life questions, four did not change significantly over 8 weeks. Questions related to memory, forgetfulness, remembering things, and focus improved significantly over 8 weeks.
Their conclusion was:
Good stuff, hey! So whether it’s dementia, simply aging or just having problems remembering, then Canna Oils BCP is definitely worth adding / keeping as part of your daily health routine.
|Just for fun!|
|Have a great weekend. Until next week, Adios!|
