Description
A whipped facial balm built on a simple idea: skin recognises the things it’s made of. Our balm starts with purified, grass-fed Australian beef tallow — a fat with a fatty acid profile remarkably similar to human sebum, naturally rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. We slow-render and purify it until it’s clean, neutral, and silky.
We then whip it with cold-pressed castor oil for a soft, cushiony feel; frankincense essential oil for its warm, grounding scent and centuries-old place in skincare traditions; and beta-caryophyllene — a naturally occurring terpene found in cloves, black pepper, and rosemary, and a familiar thread for anyone already using our Canna-Oils range.
The result is a balm that melts on contact, absorbs without greasiness, and leaves a subtle warm-resin scent. Made in small batches in Nelson Bay , NSW. No water. No fillers. No preservatives needed.
How to Use
- Cleanse and lightly pat skin so it’s still slightly damp.
- Scoop a rice-grain-sized amount with a clean fingertip or small spatula.
- Warm between fingertips for 2–3 seconds — it softens instantly.
- Press and smooth gently over face, neck, and décolletage.
- Use morning, evening, or both. A little goes a long way.
The Four Ingredients
Purified Grass-Fed Tallow — The hero ingredient. Slow-rendered from grass-fed Australian beef and purified for a clean, neutral base. Naturally rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, with a fatty acid profile that closely mirrors human sebum.
Cold-Pressed Castor Oil — A cushiony, viscous oil rich in ricinoleic acid — a fatty acid that helps lock moisture into the surface of the skin and supports a soft, supple feel.
Frankincense Essential Oil — Warm, woody, slightly spicy. Prized for thousands of years across skincare traditions. Lends the balm its signature grounding scent and its long sensory heritage.
Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP) — A naturally occurring terpene found in cloves, black pepper, and rosemary — known for it anti-inflammatory and wound healing benefits – and it’s the same terpene we feature in the Canna-Oils wellness range. A single botanical thread linking our skincare and our oils.

FAQ
What is beta-caryophyllene?
Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) is a naturally occurring terpene found in cloves, black pepper, rosemary, and many other plants – it’s known for it anti-inflammatory and wound healing benefits. We include it because it’s the same terpene that runs through our Canna-Oils wellness range, keeping a single botanical thread across both our skincare and our oils.
Does it have a strong scent?
The scent is warm, woody, and grounding — frankincense forward, with hints of clove and resin. It settles onto skin within a few minutes.
Can I use it around my eyes?
The ingredients are gentle, but we recommend keeping any essential-oil-containing balm a finger’s width away from the immediate eye area.
Why no water and no preservatives?
The balm is anhydrous (water-free), so there’s nothing in it for bacteria or mould to grow in — meaning it doesn’t need synthetic preservatives. Keep fingers and any scoops clean, and store somewhere cool.
How long does a 35g jar last?
With normal twice-daily use, around 6–10 weeks. A rice-grain-sized amount is plenty for the whole face.
What’s the shelf life?
12 months from manufacture, stored at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Only four ingredients, with no synthetic fragrances, dyes, alcohols, or preservatives. As with any skincare, we recommend a small patch test on the inner forearm 24 hours before full use.
Is the tallow really grass-fed?
Yes — sourced from Australian grass-fed beef and slow-rendered in small batches.
Is it cruelty-free?
The tallow is a by-product of the Australian meat industry — not produced for cosmetics. No animal testing is performed at any stage of our process.
Where is it made?
Hand-whipped in small batches in Nelson Bay, NSW.
