So the ten billion dollar question is – which is better CBD or BCP?
Both are signalling molecules that trigger the activation of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) when they are detected by the receptors 2 (CB2). The major difference is that CBD binds INDIRECTLY and BCP binds DIRECTLY with the CB2. So some researches would say that BCP has a greater potential effect due to it binding directly.
For those don’t know, CBD (cannabidiol) is a chemical compound from the Cannabis plant, which is also known as marijuana or hemp.
As of 2015 CBD oil is legal in Australia, as long as it contains at least 98% cannabidiol and 2% or less of other cannabinoids found in cannabis. But how do you actually get CBD oil in Australia? Well you have to go through a doctor, you need to hope the said doctor is educated about CBD and is in favour of its use, then you need to persuade them that CBD is right for you, then they need to write a complicated application and send that off to Canberra to the TGA who would then decide either way. Because this process is so challenging it is not uncommon that many sick people use the black market to get their CBD. (Source www.abc.net.au)
Unfortunately, many times CBD that is purchased online or from “friends” is not tested for purity and potency and traces of THC can be found – so basically you don’t always know what you are getting.
Whereas, BCP is a terpene extracted mainly from plants such as cloves, hops and black pepper. It can be extracted from the cannabis plant but the Canna-Oils range is not.
So when you take BCP you are guaranteed that you will not fail a drug test as there is no THC in it at all. And because of this BCP is totally legal – no black market needed here.
So basically, similar benefits could be attained by using CBD or BCP, but CBD:
1. is difficult to get legally
2. if bought on the black market, you don’t really know what you’re getting
3. normally is VERY expensive
4. only binds indirectly with CB2, therefore, dosage is way higher (more is needed for the desired effect)
So of course, the winner in my view is BCP (but you probably knew I would say that).
Might I just add that is not a complete picture of the benefits or properties of either CBD or BCP.
Just wanted you to know a few of the facts around the difference, as we get asked this all the time.
Hope this was helpful.
