Hey there, Canna Oils family!
This week I found an article that was published in March 2024 from a group of researchers in Italy. They reviewed how Beta Caryophyllene (BCP) has therapeutic potential for the management of many conditions. But this week I wanted to focus on the immune boosting benefits of BCP.
They summarised that the majority of CB2 receptors are present in immune cells and are crucial for immune system regulation. The research has demonstrated that BCP, which activates these CB2 receptors, has a variety of beneficial effects on immunological function and inflammation reduction.
Here’s a summary of what the Review found:
- “Respiratory Infections: In infants with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), BCP helped reduce lung damage by lowering levels of inflammation-causing substances.”
- “HIV Patients: For people with HIV, activating CB2 receptors with BCP helped prevent the virus from spreading and reduced virus replication in immune cells.”
- “Autoimmune Diseases: In experiments with autoimmune encephalomyelitis (a model for multiple sclerosis), BCP was found to reduce immune cell activity and inflammation.”
- “Sepsis and Lung Damage: In a study on sepsis (a severe infection), BCP reduced lung damage by decreasing oxidative stress, inflammation, and bacteria in the blood.”
- “Blood Flow and Inflammation: BCP was shown to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, and bacterial infection, while also helping with lung injuries.”
- “Brain Protection: In models of stroke and brain injury, BCP helped protect the brain by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, cell death, and brain swelling. It also supported the repair of the blood-brain barrier.”
The studies also give us the “how” BCP can potentially bring about such great outcomes. Here’s just some:
- Reduces inflammation by changing immune cells from a pro-inflammatory to an anti-inflammatory state.
- Boosts energy production and cell survival.
- Reduces oxidative stress and prevents cell death.
- Obstructs specific detrimental signalling pathway and inflammatory proteins, to lessen inflammation and brain cell death.
So in conclusion, BCP has been found over and over again in scientific studies as an important natural candidate to regulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, and protect against various health issues, including respiratory infections, HIV, autoimmune diseases, sepsis, and brain injuries.
So once again we are seeing the scientific community backing up what many of us have already experienced by using Canna Oils BCP. Our products have been such a game changer to many of us in our growing community. So proud to be a part of your wellness journey’s!!!!
